"For my divorce, I was lucky enough to work with a team—Ali Smedley, Esq. and Ryan Foran, Esq. Ryan is down to earth, easy to speak with, and knowledgeable in what's naturally an overwhelming experience. When I needed him to convey certain matters for me, he wrote on my behalf so perfectly, I asked if he could hear me cheering a few towns over. Ali is the woman you want on your side. She'll fight for you and make you feel like a friend. Overall, you’ll breathe easier with these attorneys on your case."
Why I’m Passionate About Family Law
Prior to attending law school, I knew I wanted to get into a field of law where I’d be able to make a difference and help people. While in law school, I quickly realized I wouldn’t enjoy any type of law that would require me to sit behind a desk and not interact with clients. Family law provided me the perfect blend of being able to help people, interact with many different clients and regularly be in the courtroom advocating for my clients.
What to Expect When You Work With Me
Clients can expect me to be both an advocate and a sounding board. When a client meets with me, I’m happy to take everything they say into consideration. In addition to the immediate issue that brought the client into my office that day, I ask them about the background of their relationship, so I can discern what’s actually the driving force behind why they’ve come to see me.
When a client presents me with a specific problem, I always gauge the situation and if appropriate, I ask if they believe there can be any middle ground. Of course, not all aspects of divorce allow for a middle ground, but when it comes to the client and their family, no one knows the situation better than they do. Keeping the decision-making power out of a judge's hands and with parents who’ll continue to co-parent can often be a viable and preferable solution.
