Bringing 20+ years of courtroom experience and a deep understanding of high-stakes cases, Rose Marie Mesa, Esq. joins Smedley Law Group, P.C. to strengthen advocacy and expand support for New Jersey families.

Smedley Law Group, P.C., a leading South Jersey family law firm, is proud to announce that Rose Marie Mesa, Esq. has joined the practice as an Associate Attorney. Ms. Mesa brings over two decades of experience as an Assistant Prosecutor in Burlington County, where she handled sensitive and complex cases, including those involving domestic violence, juvenile justice, and sexual assault.

During her 20-year tenure as an Assistant Prosecutor, Ms. Mesa supervised the Family Section, which includes the Domestic Violence and Juvenile Units. She also served in the Grand Jury, Insurance Fraud, and Sexual Assault Units, and worked as a certified police academy instructor. This background gives her a unique perspective that translates seamlessly into her work in family law, particularly in matters where safety, stability, and children’s well-being are at the forefront.

Ms. Mesa is known for building trust-based, supportive relationships with clients and approaching each case with honesty and compassion. “The main reason I became a lawyer was to help people,” she says. “My years as a prosecutor sharpened my courtroom skills and gave me a deep understanding of emotionally intense, high-stakes situations—many of which mirror what our clients face in family law. Being able to use that experience to help improve our clients’ lives with solutions and stability is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work.”

Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Mesa also enhances the firm’s capacity to serve New Jersey’s Spanish-speaking population with cultural sensitivity and legal clarity. “When clients work with me, they can expect a nuanced understanding of their situation, compassion for their challenges, and honest advice grounded in both experience and practicality,” she says. “I focus on empowering my clients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions, because that’s the foundation for lasting, positive resolutions.”

Before joining Smedley Law Group, P.C., Ms. Mesa practiced at Mattleman, Weinroth & Miller. She earned her Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Florida Atlantic University.

Outside the courtroom, Ms. Mesa is committed to community service and currently serves as a Board Member of the Burlington County Family Support Organization, an advocacy group dedicated to supporting families of children with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
